2005 Jets Season Schedule
Last season, the New York Jets rebounded from a 6-10 2003 campaign to go 10-6 and earn a playoff berth. In the AFC Wild Card game, New York stunned the San Diego Chargers, 20-17. They advanced to next round and locked horns with the mighty Pittsburgh Steelers, who had not lost with rookie quarterback Ben Roethlisberger taking the snaps from center. As it was, New York was just a field goal away from reaching the AFC Championship, despite quarterback Chad Pennington playing with a severe shoulder injury. The Steelers prevailed on that day, 20-17, but ever since then fans have been eagerly anticipating the start of the 2005 Jets season schedule. They expect big things from their favorite team this season, and Herman Edwards, Curtis Martin and crew are determined not to disappoint the Jets faithful.
2005 Jets Season Schedule Breakdown
This season, in addition to their home-and-home series against AFC East rivals Buffalo, Miami and New England, the 2005 Jets season schedule will pit the franchise against some stiff competition. New York hosts Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, San Diego, New Orleans and Oakland while squaring off against Kansas City, Baltimore, Atlanta, Carolina and Denver. The Jets do not have an easy road ahead of them, however. In fact, of the 10 non-division opponents they face in 2005, New York only has winning records against three of them -- the Buccaneers (7-1), Panthers (2-1) and the Saints (5-4). In fact, New York is 165-166-5 against the teams they face at home this year and 163-164-4 versus their 2005 road opponents. Still, with Pennington healthy and ready to go, Martin set for another 1,000 yard season and new acquisitions Laveranues Coles, Derrick Blaylock, Ty Law and Mike Nugent, the Jets seem poised and ready to book a return trip to the postseason.
